87mph backwards into armco
Someone just sent me a picture showing me doing what I love doing best – 87 mph backwards across a gravel trap! It was from the MSV TDT race this weekend at Mallory Park. I fell off following an overtaking manoeuvre on a back marker that went a little wrong coming out of Gerrards. Luckily very little damage done to the car and I only managed to lose 12 seconds in the incident. The in car video tells the full story.
Robert’s ongoing diet
Having completed the handling mods Matt at TrackToys has been at my 968 (aka Robert) with an eye to weight loss. I so wish it was as easy for me.
We are down about 100Kg at the moment with the replacement of the steel bonnet for a GRP one, loss of the interior and a few other bits and pieces. In the last week I notice from a post he has placed over on OPL the front and rear PU panels have come off and superfluous brackets and lights have gone. Also on the list is the AC unit and radiators and if class regulations allow the rear hatch cover which is one large piece of very heavy glass will be replaced by Lexan.
I drove the car for a dozen laps at Snetterton last weekend mid way through this process. The apparent increase in power and better handling was marked. Really looking forward to my next opportunity for some seat time which hopefully will be before the next round of the MSVTrack Day Trophy but unfortunately with work commitments I fear this may be the case. Also really looking forward togetting the car up to Sticky Micky at RageDesigns for it’s racing colours. It is going to be a black version of the TWB Racing colour scheme that Clive had created by Sticky for the M3 with space for my sponsors.
If only this worked
I was recently asked to explain to someone with very little programming or database experience what a SQL injection attack was because he had seen a reference to it in response to a photograph (below) posted on a forum.
If you know what a SQL injection attack is just think about speed cameras.
If you don’t and wonder why these Polish guys have such a weird looking licence plate. It goes something like this. At some point a speed camera will “read” the plate. The resulting licence plate number will be stored in a database. What the code on the front of this car does (well it probably does not as the Optical Character Recognition almost certainly only reads a six or seven characters) will allow a bogus plate number “ZU 0666″ to be inserted into the database and then an extra command that drops (delete) the database. This kind of attack is used against web sites usually to allow an attacker to get access to data but who knows it may be of use to speeding Polish motorists.
Sally and Robert get a new friend

When I first got a Porsche my father recounted a memory from his youth, of watching and listening as a bright red Porsche with a big tail and loud engine disappeared down a dual carriageway. He described the sense of awe it inspired in him. It kind of stuck with me. The car was probably a 930 and the colour will have been Guards Red, that standard bright red Porsche colour that continues to this very day.
